Based in: Manawatū.

Broader area of facilitation: Online nationwide, and face to face in Horowhenua, Whanganui and Rangitīkei.

Sorted at Work sessions I'm available to facilitate: All of them.

Professional qualifications: I'm a NZX Adviser with a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies in Personal Financial Planning, a National Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice, Level 5), and a National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy.

What inspired me to become a Sorted at Work facilitator: When I started work in the finance industry in 2004, I was amazed at all the different options available to help people manage their money and wanted to be able to share what I learned with as wide a range of people as possible.

What people can expect from my sessions: Energy and enthusiasm from someone who’s passionate and knowledgeable about money and finance, and delivers information in language everyone can understand.

What I enjoy most about being a Sorted at Work facilitator: I love helping participants to understand money and finance, so they can get sorted and achieve their dreams and goals.

How can the Sorted at Work programme change someone’s life? I’ve seen participants immediately start to make changes to how they manage their money. The confidence that people gain from identifying their short-, medium- and long-term goals and what they need to do to achieve them allows them to manage their money to live for today, while also planning and preparing for their future.

How do you and the programme make learning about financial matters more interesting than people might expect? Making it fun and interactive with plenty of activities, along with ensuring everyone gets to participate, means attendees are pleasantly surprised by how much they can learn. I’m super passionate about helping to ensure that New Zealanders know at least what I know about how to get the very best out of their hard-earned cash.

What are some of the lightbulb moments you’ve seen happen for people in the sessions you’ve facilitated? There are so many that the full list would be really long! Two of the more common ones are when people are given time to calculate how much those little regular costs add up to over a year – such as coffee, alcohol, cigarettes and vapes – and how many hours of work it takes to pay for things.

What would you say to anyone who’s considering booking a Sorted at Work session? Book it! The sooner your staff get on top of their finances and reduce money worry, the sooner they’ll be happier in life and more productive at work.
