CFFC joins forces with Housing New Zealand

CFFC and Housing New Zealand have signed an agreement to work together to help Housing New Zealand customers and staff enhance their financial capability.

Interim Retirement Commissioner Peter Cordtz (right) met with HNZ CEO Andrew McKenzie on September 20 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the organisations. CFFC will design and deliver financial capability programmes for HNZ customers across New Zealand, as well as provide advice on pathways into home ownership.

CFFC will also design and deliver training sessions for HNZ staff who work with financially vulnerable customers, and explore opportunities to assist building apprentices sponsored by HNZ.

Cordtz said the agreement was in keeping with CFFC’s kaupapa of assisting New Zealanders’ long term financial outcomes, in which attaining home ownership was key.

“We’ve worked with Te Puni Kōkiri and the Tāmaki Regeneration Company in their housing initiatives, and as Housing New Zealand is also a critical player in this space it makes sense for us to enter a formal agreement to work together on better outcomes for their customers,” said Cordtz.

McKenzie thanked CFFC for its co-operation, saying the agreement to leverage CFFC’s expertise in developing financial capability for HNZ customers would be hugely beneficial in improving their long term wellbeing.
